Almost 10 years after the release of Starcraft and Blizzard is still releasing patches for arguably their most popular real-time-strategy release. Is this the company's latest hint? With Blizzard's mega announcement not yet here -- check back this weekend for the whole skinny here at TGH -- speculation is running wild about what's on tap.
Blizzard's announcement will take place in Korea, home of StarCraft's celebrity-like status and the perfect stage for an unveiling of a sequel. Or. When Worlds of Warcarft became a phenomenon, everyone expected Blizzard to an MMO-exclusive factory, thus making World of StarCraft a distinctly profitable possibility. The folks at Legendary Thread, however, aren't so sure that's the case.
The evidence so far:
Blizzard is counting down with teaser splash pages on their official site
Yesterday, a StarCraft patch was released for custom StarCraft leagues
Diablo3.com does not belong to Blizzard
StarCraft2.com directs you to the aforementioned teaser page
WorldofWarcraft.com now points to the same splash page
StarCraft novel, Queen of Blades, is being advertised at the top of Battle.net I dont know about you but I am a big fan of StarCraft. It was my first muitiplayer online game. I still play it to this day.
