PlayStation 3's social MMO Home has been delayed until Spring 2008, according to Kaz Hirai during the Tokyo Game Show press conference. A previous progress report (http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/28/a-progress-report-on-playstation-home-beta/) from an anonymous beta tester gave the indication that development was behind schedule, so I'm not too surprised. However, I would love to know if any updates have been implemented in the last month, if anyone in the notoriously secretive beta would like to speak up.

When Sony announced it would be delaying Home until Spring of next year, we weren't sure how that might change plans for the beta test that was due out this Fall.

Phil Harrison, thankfully, says beta is still coming as planned, according to GameSpot (http://au.gamespot.com/news/6179318.html?tag=latestnews;title;3). "We will still be opening in late November/early December for general beta testing," he says. "So, the commercial start of Home will be pushed out later, but you will still get the experience this year." What a "commercial start" means is still up in the air, however, as Sony has not yet settled on a business plan for Home, most often hinting at an ad-supported revenue stream. We may see more evidence of that as the beta rolls out in a few months.
