it just happens out of the blue....there doesnt need to be a cause...i know someone who has had theirs since it came out and they are fine but that is RARE...my cuz's fucked up 1st week he had it, a friend's fucked up within 1 month, and another friends lasted i will say 3 months...but its just random from what i understand

guy never fear the ring of death is cause 36o ran out of room for HD processor,So instead of figuring out how to make it all fit....They made the cooling area smaller....So when the 360 ''gets hott'' the glue melts away from parts inside and in turn causes a malfunction.The 360 elite is best bet they changed the inside so it does this no more...And u will never have Ring of death.Here is a video that explains all.But a ring should not stop u from getting a 36o...I have probs no more...all the ones that did that are pretty much filtered through...The newer 36o's have the HDMi cable in the back and from what they say they did some mods to stop problem.Elite def way to go if ya got the cash...or xmas gift...but u won't go wrong buying a reg one either.

good news to hear, bought my son one for xmas! I tried to talk him into a ps3 but he wanted a 360 instead. got the regular arcade one and bought a 20gb hd for it for $15 off of my lil brother, cuz he upgraded to a 120gb!
