so heres the deal, bought the 360 last year, used to play it somewhat, perhaps 2 hours per day. All of the sudden i get the 3 red lights and wont work. its out of warranty, would cost upwards of 130 to fix and there is a chance i would lose memory. I have fixed my PS2 numerous times, so i wanna try the 360 before sending it in. Anyone had this happen before and fixed theirs?

Where have u been homo? Someone tried to sell me a xbox360 that had the ring of death, thank god I try before I buy. Try using a different power cord, I heard that can cause it. But most likely your fucked. I havnt looked much into it though. I am sure if you google red ring of death, you would find plenty of threads in forums with people talking about how to fix it. :hate-tunz:

Born, here is what i found from google and calling microsoft. The red ring of death in my case is caused from the first "batch" of 360's, where the cooling system is/was defective. Basically, the rip it down, replace or recoat the chip with a different material that allows it to stay cool. Well my 360 is out of warranty, and i didnt buy the extended warranty, so i called microsoft and to send it in is $130. I took it apart found the problem, but i have no means of fixing it. After arguing with them for 30 minutes, i got them to fix it for half, so $65 and they pay for shipping. 360 will be gone for 2-4 weeks. Replacing power cord, unhooking Harddrive, reseting, etc, WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM!!! So best bet is to just call microsoft and get on them to lower cost of fixing the unit. To answer your other questions, i been busy with football, school, and up till 2 weeks ago playing 360 and my roomates PS3 and the Wii. I got on CA a few times but nobody was on so i just logged off. FOr some reason when i try logging on S2 i have to download the patch, and after downloading it 10 times i decided to give up. But anyway, im still around. PEACE
